Healthy Communities

Purpose and Scope

The purpose of the Healthy Communities working team is to create structure for service-related issues facing the lower-income population in Charlotte. Access to affordable and workforce housing, public transportation, and critical support services, such as health care, is crucial to economic development.

Priorities

• Continued support for the Home for All Strategy, leaning in where United Way can use our support.

• Increased corporate participation in the Opportunity Compass and support of Leading on Opportunity in efforts to demonstrate the exact impacts stakeholder dollars are making to move the needle in specific areas.

• Support of non-profits through the exploration and potential development of an expanded Executive in Residence effort to support non-profits, and the launch of a professional growth pilot.

• Continued support of CMS effort around Teacher Housing.
